IPv6 readiness: what MSPs should verify

Published Mar 29, 2024 • Updated May 1, 2026

Overview

Even if you “don’t use IPv6,” OSes often prefer it—unexpected leaks happen.

Verify

  • DNS64/NAT64 accidental.
  • Firewalls default allow IPv6 any-to-any.
  • Public AAAA records with untested services.

Strategy

Either full dual-stack managed or explicit IPv6 disabled consistently with security sign-off—not halfway.
